Superbike World Championship and MotoAmerica Riders Kick-off Monterey Race Weekend with Ride Over Golden Gate Bridge
A Superbike ride across the Golden Gate Bridge highlighted the start of this weekend’s World Superbike event at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
The 2017 WeatherTech Raceway winners Jonathan Rea of Kawasaki and Chaz Davies of Ducati led a contingent of eight riders across the historic landmark.
With an escort from the California Highway Patrol and photographers and film crews leading the way, the riders dressed in full race gear rode a 6.5-mile route to Cioppino’s Restaurant on Fisherman’s Wharf for lunch and an autograph session with fans.
“This is a great way to give fans a very personal experience with World Superbike racing,” Rea said. “To say I rode my superbike across the Golden Gate Bridge is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and some great exposure for World Superbike racing.”
