Mazda Raceway Speeds Forward with a 3-Sided Daktronics Video Display
Creating the Ultimate Experience for Fans

Spectators visiting Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca this year will be greeted by an impressive three-sided video display and scoring tower system from Daktronics. This state-of-the-art system features the latest in LED video technology and the capability to engage racing fans with live and recorded video images, integrated real-time race information, colorful animations and vivid graphics.

“We are extremely grateful to the Laguna Seca Raceway Fund, which was instrumental in making the new scoring tower a reality,” said Gill Campbell, CEO/general manager of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “A special thanks also needs to be extended to the Porsche Club of America Western Region for its generous help with the Scoring Tower.”

“Daktronics has helped us provide our fans with the latest and greatest technology as they will have a great view of the action throughout the entire raceway,” Campbell added.

The three-sided video display will be installed atop the scoring tower and measures more than 13′ high by 30′ wide on each side. The displays’ incredible brightness and wide angle visibility will provide all fans with an up-close view of racing action. When not showing graphics, animation or public announcements, advertisers will be highlighted with a wide variety of visuals and messages.

In addition to the three-sided video display, the track is updating its leaderboard with Daktronics LED digits, providing a clear, bright view of race standings. The scoring, timing, video, messaging and sound components will integrate through a Daktronics proven control system. The new scoring tower will have a long tenure with minimal maintenance and lower power consumption.

The new displays make Mazda Raceway the only motorsports venue in California with live video on top of its leaderboard and the only motorsports venue in Central and Northern California with permanent live video displays.

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca opens the season with the American LeMans Series Monterey presented by Patrón on May 21-23, 2010.
