Pre-Reunion Events Start Classic Car Week Off in Style
Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion Heads Weekend Full of Events

Race cars gather at Fisherman's Wharf to kick-off the week.

Monterey Classic Car Week rolled onto the Monterey Peninsula with a variety of events and racing, striking the proper chord for the upcoming week. Last Friday, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca teamed up with the Fisherman’s Wharf Association for the Monterey Motorsports Reunion Classic, presented by Jaguar. The free event included historic race and sports cars, live music and a raffle featuring prizes from the raceway and wharf businesses.

Bonham’s hosted Pre-Reunion participants for lunch each day at its Turn 4 Hospitality suite, allowing drivers to get to know each other and compare notes on the race track and its world-famous Corkscrew turn.

Then on Saturday race participants and car enthusiasts enjoyed the annual Dining in the Vines event with a delectable barbeque dinner and award-wining wines at the Chateau Julien Wine Estate’s Sangiovese vineyard.

Ten race groups competed Saturday and Sunday and the results may be found online at http://www.mazdaraceway.com/announcement/race-results.

All these notable events were precursors to the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, August 19-21, which features more than 550 of the finest examples of automotive history, style, design and technology that, for its 38th year, filling the race paddock at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

Each car accepted has its own interesting history, which owners enthusiastically share with fans as they wander through the open race paddock. A strict set of selection criteria ensures each car is period correct and is authentic with proven race provenance. Equally important is that the car has not been mechanically altered from its original race condition.
