Aleia Ando Melese
Ticket and Camping Assistant

Originally from sunny Santa Monica, California, I came to Monterey in 2009 to attend California State University Monterey Bay (and to stay by the beach) where I earned my degree in Japanese Language & Culture. After graduating in 2013 I moved home, but it only took about a month for me to decide that Monterey is where I want to be!

Hometown: Santa Monica, California

College: California State University Monterey Bay

Favorite Racing Series: Probably the Spring Classic because it’s new this year just like me!

Favorite Racer: Mark Donohue (he’s my dad’s favorite)

First Time You Realized You Like Racing: During my first time at Mazda Raceway when I volunteered in the Souvenir Shop during Moto GP 2013. Watching the  motorcycles race around the track was exhilarating!

Favorite Music: Pretty much anything, but rock ‘n’ roll (especially David Bowie) is at the top of the list!

Favorite Movie: Too many to choose a favorite, but Lilo and Stitch is a childhood favorite.

Favorite Book: Probably the Harry Potter books and a lot of comics/manga!

Hobbies: Hiking, cooking, video games, arts & crafts, traveling and spending time with my family, friends and pets.

Something no one else knows about you: I grew up in the city, but spent a lot time on my grandparents’ tree farm in Fallbrook, California. Riding in the back of a pick-up truck with my dog was the best!
