eni FIM Superbike World Championship Returns to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca

The eni FIM Superbike World Championship returns to the famed Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on California’s scenic Central Coast for a third consecutive year July 17-19, 2015, and its only U.S. appearance.
 
“We continue to be pleased with the growth of the fan base for the Series,” says Gill Campbell, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca CEO/general manager. “With the continuation of GEICO as title sponsor, it seems clear that the U.S. motorcycle industry also sees this as an important event in which to reach out to their enthusiasts.”

Tom Sykes Blazes New World Superbike Track Record

Kawasaki Racing Team’s Tom Sykes (United Kingdom) scorched the 2.238-mile circuit today and set a new World Superbike track record.

Sykes’ record-setting run of 1′21.811 came in the final minutes of the Tissot Superpole No. 2 session of the eni FIM Superbike World Championship, GEICO Motorcycle U.S. Round.

For comparison, the circuit motorcycle record is held by Dani Pedrosa who ran a 1′21.229 lap during the 2012 MotoGP race.

Hurry and Buy the Motorcycle Cruising Special for July 11-13 Before Time Runs Out

Time is running out to purchase the special Cruising Special for the eni FIM Superbike World Championship, GEICO Motorcycle U.S. Round July 11-13.

There are two options available – with Motorcycle Parking is $170 per person and Includes 3-day General Admission, Paddock Pass, reserved grandstand seat at Turn 4 or Turn 11 and a parking pass that is valid for one motorcycle.

A similar pass is also available without parking for $120 per person that includes 3-Day General Admission, Paddock Pass and a reserved grandstand seat at Turn 4 or Turn 11.

Melandri and BMW leave it late to head qualifying

The second qualifying session lived up to expectations as the WSBK riders did their best to finish inside the top 15, to guarantee themselves a spot for tomorrow morning’s Tissot-Superpole. Despite the temperature dropping considerably throughout the 1-hour session, lap-times significantly improved as the leading two riders were even able to break into the 1’23s barrier.

Lone U.S. Stop for World Championship Series

With just two races separating eni FIM World Superbike’s return to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, September 27-29, for its lone stop in the United States, Davide Giugliano (Althea Racing Aprilia) is setting his sights on the German Round that will take place this weekend at the Nurburgring. The young Italian had a difficult time at Silverstone three weeks ago, after crashing out and hurting his right foot during the Saturday’s Tissot-Superpole.
