Quail Ride Runs Through WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca

The Quail Ride 2019 Presented by Hagerty Motorcycle Insurance came through WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca this afternoon on Friday, May 3. Nearly 100 rare and show-worthy motorcycles that began their journey in Carmel made a few laps around the 11-turn, 2.238-mile road course guided by the Lexus pace cars. The activity took place during the lunch break at Trans Am SpeedFest. The contemporary Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli races and the historic cars of the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association continue through Sunday.


World’s Largest Lexus Debuts to Greet Visitors to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca

The world’s largest Lexus RC F GT3 made its world debut today on the hillside greeting visitors to Monterey County’s WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Lexus is the official luxury car of the legendary 2.238-mile road course, which maintains a fleet of more regularly-sized Lexus sedans, crossovers and sport utility vehicles at the race track.

Making its international debut in conjunction with the Intercontinental GT Challenge California 8 Hours race weekend, Lexus officials described the race-liveried Lexus RC F GT3 as the ultimate expression to Experience Amazing.

Charlie Whiting 1952-2018

FIA Director of Formula One Charlie Whiting died on the morning of March 14, days before the start of the Australian Grand Prix, as the result of a pulmonary embolism. He was 66.

Whiting was the FIA Formula One Race Director, Safety Delegate, Permanent Starter and head of the F1 Technical Department, in which capacities he generally managed the logistics of each F1 Grand Prix, inspected cars in parc fermé before a race, enforced FIA rules, and controlled the lights that start each race. He had been the driving force in promoting safety in F1.

Eight Manufacturers Confirmed for Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli

Eight manufacturers are confirmed for Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli. The global GT3 series begins the schedule of five races on five continents in Australia at this weekend’s Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour and heads to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca for the California 8 Hours on March 29-30.

The recent confirmations of Ferrari and Honda following Nissan’s confirmation earlier in the week bring this year’s total number of full-season manufacturers to a record-breaking eight. They are joined on the roster by Audi, Bentley, BMW, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche.

MacNeil, Ghandour, Baker and Davis Claim Wins at Ferrari Challenge Season Opener

An early morning gave way to a hazy afternoon as Challenge competitors gathered at the Circuit of the Americas for Race 2 of Ferrari Challenge competition in North America on March 10. Cloudy skies, however, meant cooler temperatures, a welcome respite for the drivers after Saturday’s warm and humid conditions. Ultimately, however, the patterns started on Saturday were maintained into Sunday; clean racing, respect across the field and enjoyment while racing Ferraris.


EBC Brakes To Be Title Sponsor Of MotoAmerica Superbike Series

MotoAmerica announced that EBC Brakes will be the title sponsor of the MotoAmerica Superbike class for the 2019 season with the premier class in the series now titled the MotoAmerica EBC Brakes Superbike class.

The title sponsorship of the EBC Brakes Superbike class is the British-based high-performance aftermarket disc brake company’s first foray into sponsorship with MotoAmerica and the company, based in the U.S. in Las Vegas, is looking forward to the partnership.


Loshak, Matos Score Wins During Trans Am Season Opener

The 2019 Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli kicked off a new season at Sebring International Raceway with victories being awarded during a double-header on Sunday. The first race featured was the TA2 powered by AEM category, and the second race included TA, SuperGT and GT on the same grid.

In TA, a late-race restart proved to be no problem for polesitter Lawrence Loshak, who drove to a flag-to-flag overall victory. Defending champion Ernie Francis Jr. pressured Loshak for the opening six laps before pitting with a transmission issue, costing him 12 laps.
