Monterey SportsCar Championship

America’s premier sports car series just keeps getting better. Fresh off its 50th anniversary, the IMSA series brings its top classes of Daytona Prototypes, Le Mans Prototype 2, GT Le Mans and GT Daytona to Monterey. Fans are always treated to autograph sessions, behind-the -scenes tours, a bustling Marketplace and continuous morning to evening racing action. Laguna Seca is the penultimate round so drivers and teams are battling to capture valuable championship points.

Date has been pushed forward by one week to Labor Day Weekend to accommodate IMSA competitors planning to participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which will now run Sept. 19-20.

IMSA Monterey SportsCar Championship Date Moves One Week
Race now scheduled for Labor Day Weekend, September 4-6, 2020

The International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) today announced schedule updates for three 2020 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and Michelin Pilot Challenge events, which includes Monterey. 

The IMSA Monterey SportsCar Championship at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca originally scheduled for the weekend of Sept. 11-13 has been moved up one weekend to run on Labor Day weekend of Sept. 4-6. This date adjustment was made to accommodate IMSA competitors planning to participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which now will run on Sept. 19-20.

The 2019 Rolex 24 at Daytona will be remembered as one of the most wild, thrilling races in the history of the illustrious event. Teams battled around the clock with rain affecting the later hours of the event and torrential downpour ultimately concluding it under a red flag.

The Rolex 24 at Daytona is taking place to kick off the 2019 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The legendary endurance event is currently taking place and being broadcast live on NBCSN.
