Elias to Take Points Lead to Monterey After Double Win at MotoAmerica Round 5

Yoshimura Suzuki’s Toni Elias knew he was beaten by Monster Energy/Yamalube/Yamaha Factory Racing’s Cameron Beaubier in the first half of the EBC Brakes Superbike race in the Championship of Utah at Utah Motorsports Campus and he was just about to do the unheard of – settle for second place. But things changed when the red flag came out on the 13th lap, giving new life to the Spaniard who took full advantage to hold off Beaubier in a thrilling 10-lap sprint race to the finish.

The Yoshimura Suzuki factory effort made another resounding statement in the EBC Brakes Superbike class at the fourth round of the MotoAmerica series at Road America on June 1-2. Rider Toni Elias and Josh Herrin each earned a victory on the same weekend for the second time this season, though the teammates battled each other in addition to their competitors on the rest of the grid.

Rea Ends Bautista’s Winning Streak at Imola

Reigning four-time WorldSBK champion Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) got back on track while ending points leader Alvaro Bautista’s record-breaking streak of 11 consecutive wins. Rea put on a clinic during Race 1 of the Pirelli Italian Round for career win No. 72 and followed with his 73rd win during the 10-lap Tissot Superpole race. Race 2 was cancelled due to rain.

Bautista Scores Ninth Straight WorldSBK Win at Home Race

This past weekend’s WorldSBK race at the Motocard Aragon Round provided action and entertainment from lap one, with hard passes and an exciting battle taking place. Alvaro Bautista shattered more records by taking his ninth consecutive race win to equal 2003 WorldSBK champion Neil Hodgson in winning the opening nine races of the season, as well as giving Ducati their 350th WorldSBK win.

EBC Brakes To Be Title Sponsor Of MotoAmerica Superbike Series

MotoAmerica announced that EBC Brakes will be the title sponsor of the MotoAmerica Superbike class for the 2019 season with the premier class in the series now titled the MotoAmerica EBC Brakes Superbike class.

The title sponsorship of the EBC Brakes Superbike class is the British-based high-performance aftermarket disc brake company’s first foray into sponsorship with MotoAmerica and the company, based in the U.S. in Las Vegas, is looking forward to the partnership.

WorldSBK season begins at Phillip Island Feb. 22-24

Álvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) stormed to the top of the timesheets again on Tuesday at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit with a best lap of 1’30.303, a whole 0.440 seconds faster than his best from the previous day and nearly half a second quicker than four-time world champion Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK), fourth fastest at the Aussie racetrack.

MotoAmerica pre-season testing got underway with five of the top Superbike racers in the MotoAmerica Superbike Series converging at Thunderhill Raceway Park on January 30-31.

Monster Energy Yamaha’s Cameron Beaubier and Garrett Gerloff was joined at the Northern California racetrack by Yoshimura Suzuki’s Toni Elias and Josh Herrin and the single-entry Estenson Racing/Attack Performance team of JD Beach.

MotoAmerica and WorldSBK head to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca July 12-14

MotoAmerica president, three-time 500cc Grand Prix motorcycle world champion and Monterey resident Wayne Rainey shared some thoughts about the 2019 season. Rainey continues to drive momentum for motorcycle road racing in the United States with the MotoAmerica series, which will bring all five classes to join the international MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship on-track at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca July 12-14.

Rainey is confident that the 2019 MotoAmerica Series will be the best yet – both on and off the track.

2019 WorldSBK Entry List Revealed
Provisional WorldSBK line up for the new season announced

Ahead of the new MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship season, the provisional list of entrants has been made public announcing 18 riders set to line up on the 2019 WorldSBK grid. Alongside established names of the category, many are the emerging figures that will debut in the new campaign, which will begin at Phillip Island on February 23-24 and comes to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca for its ninth round on July 12-14.

Please avoid the main entrance at Highway 68. All vehicles are instructed to enter WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca via South Boundary Road. Please ignore race traffic signs that deviate from directions below.

South Boundary Entrance will be open to all in-bound and out-bound traffic. Vehicles will be parked on a first come/first served basis, with some parking areas restricted to vehicles with parking passes only.
