Porsche Rennsport Reunion V Named IHMA Motorsports Event of the Year

LONDON, November 19, 2015 – The Porsche Rennsport Reunion V, held this past September at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif., was today named Motorsport Event of the Year at the fifth annual International Historic Motoring Awards, in association with EFG International and Octane magazine. The announcement came at a black tie gala held here at the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel in celebration of the very best of the historic motoring industry.

Porsche Rennsport Reunion V Delights Record Crowd with 24 Hours of Le Mans Celebration

The record three-day number of 57,531 fans that came to Monterey’s Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for Porsche Rennsport Reunion V experienced an event like no other. Over 50 legendary Porsche drivers and engineers came together with more than 75 Le Mans specific and significant models to celebrate “Porsche at Le Mans” and the most recent 17th overall victory this past June.

Concours on Pit Lane Highlights Saturday at Porsche Rennsport Reunion V

One of the high points of a weekend packed full of highlights during Porsche Rennsport Reunion V at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca was Saturday afternoon’s Concours on Pit Lane where thousands of Porsche race fans and enthusiasts gathered on the pit lane after the day’s on-track activities concluded to take in the sights of the more than 100 Porsche race cars which lined up Le Mans style on the pit wall.

Porsche Cars North America Displays Iconic Race Cars at Portola Hotel & Spa

The lobby of the Portola Hotel & Spa in Monterey may be mistaken as a Porsche Museum as it has been transformed into a showcase of some of the rarest Porsche race cars from the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany.

The transformation of the Portola, the location for the opening night gathering for Porsche Rennsport Reunion V, includes a large Porsche Racing mural outside and branded elevator doors inside as well as small touches like Porsche Rennsport pillows in the rooms and key cards adorned with the graphics of the event poster.

What: Porsche Rennsport Reunion V will be the world’s greatest gathering of Porsche race cars and the drivers who drove them to victory. Hosted by Porsche Cars North America, it will assemble the widest variety of Porsche’s most historic racing models from the nimble 550 Spyder of the mid-Fifties through the mighty 917 and 956/962 of the Seventies and Eighties to the highly successful RS Spyder of the last decade. There are seven groups in which to enjoy the racing action as they navigate the technically demanding 2.238-mile road course and The Corkscrew.

For the Porsche Rennsport Reunion V taking place at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca this weekend, September 25-27, both the men and the machines they drove are expected to outdraw one of the largest crowds in track history – the last Rennsport Reunion held in 2011. Pre-event buzz from the passionate Porsche enthusiasts and collectors indicate that this iteration of Porsche Rennsport Reunion will outdo all others that came before. Another indication to the size and scope of the upcoming weekend: ticket sales are approximately thirty percent higher than four years ago.
