Former Indy 500 Racers Lyn St. James and Dominic Dobson Talk the “Future of Restoration”

Former Indy 500 racers Lyn St. James and Dominic Dobson will be part of a special restoration-themed panel discussion set for 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, August 15 during the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The 45-minute presentation – “Young People and Old Cars: The Future of Restoration” – is sponsored and hosted by the Hagerty Education Program at America’s Car Museum (HEP). It will be broadcasted live from the track during a race intermission.

Sir Jackie Stewart Joins Rostrum as Special Guest for Picnic in the Park with Scott Pruett

Sir Jackie Stewart, OBE, one of the greatest and most respected names in the history of motor racing, has been named special guest at the Aug. 15 Picnic in the Park celebration held during the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, Aug. 13-16, at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

Stewart will join sports car legend and award-winning winemaker Scott Pruett, named in June as the Picnic in the Park’s honored guest, and noted motorsports historian Murray Smith to recount stories and tales from their unmatched and distinguished motorsports careers.

Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion – Perspectives on Passion: From the Driver’s Seat

Owners of vintage and historic cars are passionate about their machines, and for those who wish to race them, the annual Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion holds the highest esteem in the U.S. when it comes to such endeavors. Organizers limit an enormous number of entry requests to 550 period-correct cars for the annual event, which is next scheduled for this August 13-16 and takes place at the 2.238-mile race course that is Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

This is the original championship-winning Gurney Eagle Formula 5000 driven by Tony Adamowicz in the 1969 SCCA FA- F5000/Continental Championship.

Record Gathering of Formula 5000 Cars Expected

Surpassing previous years’ flurry of entry requests before the deadline strikes, the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion’s Governing Committee today began the arduous task of reviewing each entry to reduce the total car count to a maximum of 550. The process is time-consuming, but ensures that each car is authentic and historically accurate when they arrive at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca August 13-16.


Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion to Celebrate 50th Anniversary of Shelby GT350 Mustang

The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion will celebrate the 50th anniversary of one of the most recognizable road racing cars of the ‘60s – the Shelby GT350 Mustang – as the 2015 featured marque August 13-16, 2015 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

The Shelby GT350 Mustang came onto the scene just one year after the Ford Mustang debuted. Ford Motor Company, already having success with Carroll Shelby in the Cobra program, enlisted Shelby to make the new Mustang competitive. And together they did, winning three consecutive SCCA national championships in its maiden years.

Corvette Heroes to Attend Reunion

A name synonymous with racing, the Chevrolet Corvette will commemorate its 60th anniversary in style as the featured marque of this year’s Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, August 16-18. In celebration of the Corvette’s storied history, Chevrolet has assembled a collection of rare Corvettes from nearly every year to create a special exhibition for visitors to enjoy.

Among those on display in this Corvette-only exhibition will be the iconic No. 9 car, which graces the event’s poster, and famously raced in the 1967 24 Hours of Le Mans.

MONTEREY, Calif., Aug.9, 2013 –  From August 16-18, the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion will pay tribute to the enduring legacy of the all-American Chevrolet Corvette, which stunned the auto world at its debut at the 1953 Motorama Auto Show in New York City.  Now 60 years later, at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca where historic automobile racing premiers as the only track-action competition during the Monterey Peninsula’s annual Classic Car Week, the Corvette will star as the event’s special marque, with seven generations of the magnificent sports car occupying special displays and/o
